The Hunger Games (Original Motion Picture Score) soundtrack

"Horn of Plenty" is the national anthem of Panem and is played during the Hunger Games, in public announcements by the Capitol, and in other official Capitol events or propaganda commercials. During the Games, it is played every night throughout the arena while the faces of dead tributes are displayed in the sky. In the film adaptation of The Hunger Games, the instrumental version of this song plays during the opening ceremony and the display of the dead tributes in the arena.

Lyrics

Oh, Horn of Plenty
One Horn of Plenty for us all!
And when you raise the cry
The brave shall heed the call
And we shall never falter
One Horn of Plenty for us all!

Oh, Horn of Plenty.
One Horn of Plenty for us all!
And when we raise the cry
The brave shall heed the call
And we shall never fall

Oh, Horn of Plenty
One Horn of Plenty for us all!
And when we raise the cry
The brave shall heed the call
And we shall never falter
One Horn of Plenty for us all!

Oh, Capitol
Your glorious diamond shine
A tribute to'
The darkest days behind
One Horn of Plenty for us all!

Trivia

  • The lyrics are supposed to represent the unity and prosperity of Panem under the leadership of the Capitol. However, this is blatantly false, since Panem is a totalitarian country ruthlessly ruled by its Government, while prosperity is limited to the Capitol and, in part, its most loyal districts such as District 1 and District 2, while the remaining Districts live in poverty and under harsh living conditions.
  • An instrumental version of "Horn of Plenty" can be heard playing before the reaping in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, meaning the song likely existed before the events of the 10th Hunger Games, but was not adopted as the national anthem until later. "Gem of Panem" was the national anthem during and before the 10th Hunger Games.

Behind the scenes

  • The lyrics are included in the original score sheets labeled "2m5s v6 Chariot Ceremony". In the Blu-ray and DVD special features, a small feature about the score shows the London Voices choir performing the anthem.
