Blight was the male tribute from District 7 who participated in the 75th Hunger Games. Blight was also a victor of an unspecified Hunger Games. He was known to be a close friend to many of the other competitors in the 75th Hunger Games. Blight was also part of the rebellion against the Capitol, run by Plutarch Heavensbee.
75th Hunger Games
Blight was a victor who was reaped to take part in the 75th Hunger Games. He was apparently not too keen on the idea of it all, as he never showed up for training before hand. At an unknown point, Blight and Johanna were called upon by Haymitch, much like Wiress, Beetee, Finnick, Mags, the Morphlings, Cecelia, Woof, Seeder and Chaff. Johanna and Blight were told to work as a team to make sure Katniss and Peeta both managed to survive, get them to President Coin, and carry out Plutarch's plan to spark a rebellion.
The Games
Blight joined hands with the other twenty-three tributes as a sign of rebellion in the interviews. In the film, he wore an orange vest with greenish-gray sleeves and orange pants for his interview.
Blight survived the initial Cornucopia bloodbath. By the time he and Johanna got to the Cornucopia, Katniss was long gone and Beetee had recently arrived. Beetee ran to retrieve his wire from the Cornucopia, but was stabbed when he got there by Enobaria. Johanna and Blight then managed to drag Beetee out of there and retrieve Wiress before escaping the massacre.
Twelve tolls from a bell at midnight starting the second day signaled that the bloodbath was over and that the clock had started. Blight, Johanna, Wiress and Beetee had been wandering around the jungle in search for Katniss, Peeta, Mags, and Finnick, and were now getting dehydrated. The lighting storm that happened throughout the jungle just behind them and the now looming dark clouds over top of them, made them believe that rain was coming and that they could finally quench their thirst. But what came down was hot and heavy blood which almost blinded them.
It poured endlessly for an hour, Blight, Johanna, Wiress and Beetee attempted to take cover. Unfortunately, Blight accidentally ran head first into the force field along the edge of the arena. He was thrown backwards and his heart stopped, very much like Peeta's accident, although luckily Finnick Odair was able to save Peeta. His death was around 2:00 A.M., as shortly after his cannon blasted to signal his death, the blood rain had stopped and the acidic fog had started. His death startled Katniss, who was on watch duty not too far from Blight's position, and caused Wiress to go into some form of shock. This left Johanna to drag an unconscious Beetee and watch out for the unstable Wiress, which angered her. Finnick and Johanna mourned Blight when they met up, Johanna saying that "He wasn't much, but he was from home", signifying that she took his death rather hard, an unusual act of empathy from her. Blight placed 16th out of 24.
Personality
Blight was described as likable in the movie production notes. He was a close friend to many of the victors, especially Johanna, as they were from the same district and more than likely mentored together.
Trivia
