The District 6 female (often referred to as "the female morphling") was the female tribute from District 6 in the 75th Hunger Games. She was also the victor of an unspecified Hunger Games.

Biography[]

In The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Haymitch Abernathy said that she and the District 6 male both won their respective Games with the use of camouflage, hiding until the other tributes were dead.[1] They were both heavily addicted to morphling, which they used to cope with pain and trauma.[2]

Chariot rides[]

During the Tribute Parade, she and her district partner were transfixed by Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark's glowing costumes.[2]

In the Training Center, the District 6 tributes were often seen painting at the camouflage station. In addition to painting each other, they also painted Katniss into a field of yellow flowers,[3] and the female morphling painted Peeta's arm.[1] They made a mess of the station all throughout training, and probably did so in their private sessions as well.[3]

Interviews[]

During the interviews, she wore a black leather jacket and matching pants.[1] She later joined hands with her fellow victors in a display of rebellion against the Capitol.[4]

Bloodbath[]

The District 6 female survived the initial Cornucopia bloodbath. At the Cornucopia, it is most likely that she did not participate and just ran away from the terror. In the film, while Katniss ran on one of the spokes, she looked to her left and saw the morphling running into the jungle along with the District 5 female.[1] She managed to survive whilst her district counterpart did not.[5]

The Games[]

Although not a lot of information is known about what happened to her before her death, in the film, she did not have a lot of supplies or weapons due to her running away from the Cornucopia.[1] However, because she was camouflaged behind Peeta when he, Katniss, and Finnick were fighting off the monkey mutts, she presumably remained camouflaged throughout the first night.

Death[]

During the orange monkey attack, Peeta was distracted by Katniss. A monkey was about to kill him when the morphling jumped in the way to protect Peeta.[6] After Peeta had fought off the monkey, he took her body to the beach and held her. The morphling took some of her blood and drew a flower on Peeta's cheek, which he commented on, saying that it was lovely. The morphling smiled and soon after, bled to death. Peeta took her corpse to the water and let it drift off until a hovercraft came to take it away.[7]

In the film, she died a similar way, but Peeta told her to focus on the colors in the sky, giving her a sense of peace as she bled to death in his arms.[1] She placed 14th out of 24th.

Later, when Katniss was on the hovercraft to District 13 after being broken out of the 75th Hunger Games arena, Haymitch revealed that District 6's tributes, among others, had known of the rebellion and were a part of the alliance to save Katniss.[8]

Physical description[]

Due to her morphling addiction, she was bone thin, with sagging yellowish skin and overlarge eyes.[2] She also had prominent ribs.[7]
