Every tribute is assigned a prep team who prepares them for their appearance in the Hunger Games and events prior to it. Katniss Everdeen's prep team consists of Flavius (who does hair), Venia (who is in charge of waxing and eyebrows), and Octavia (who does her nails). The prep team was led by their head stylist, Cinna. Each team beautifies the tributes according to the Capitol's standards. Before the actual games, the prep team works on their tribute numerous times, for different events such as the tributes parade, interviews, the Games, the Victory Tour and other important public appearances. The prep team usually works on preparing the body of the tribute by removing body hair, bathing the tribute, working on their hair and also adding make-up, and nails. Their jobs can change depending on what their head stylist thinks. The finishing touches and presentation of the tribute's outfit is done by the head stylist. Cinna also creates Katniss' clothes and armor for public appearances.

Shortly after the 75th Hunger Games, the stylists and prep teams of every tribute were ordered by President Snow to be killed, due to the 24 tributes finishing off the interviews by holding each other's hands, an act of rebellion. Portia and Peeta's prep team were executed on live TV while Peeta was watching. Katniss' prep team were saved by the rebels and were temporarily kept prisoner until Katniss ordered them to be set free. Katniss' prep team is the only prep team alive after the Rebellion.
