Squad 451, also known as the "Star Squad," was formed to take down President Snow and the Capitol. The squad consisted of Katniss Everdeen, Gale Hawthorne, Finnick Odair, Jackson, Boggs, Homes, Leeg 1, Leeg 2, Mitchell and later, Peeta Mellark, who still had issues with his previous hijacking whilst the Squad was on its missions.

Squad 451

The Squad consists of 10 members:

  • Katniss Everdeen
  • Gale Hawthorne
  • Finnick Odair
  • Jackson
  • Boggs
  • Homes
  • Mitchell
  • Leeg 1 & Leeg 2
  • Peeta (replacement for Leeg 2)
  • Tigris

Leeg 2 is the first death, after stepping on a mislabled pod, which shoots a dart into her brain. President Coin sends Peeta in as a replacement, noticing his hijacking is not completely undone, intending to kill Katniss. The team makes up a game called 'Real or Not Real'.

Along with the ten soldiers, Squad 451 is accompanied by four of Cressida's camera crew, including:

During the filming of a propo, Boggs steps on a pod, blowing off his legs. Mitchell tackles Peeta, and, when Peeta throws him off, he triggers a second pod, getting caught in a net made of barbs, and starting a wave, of a tar-like substance. The team goes into a nearby house, where Katniss kills a Capitol woman. Boggs dies, and transfers the Holo to Katniss, which angers Jackson.

They move through the Capitol, and eventually find their way into the sewers and to the Transfer, where Pollux had worked as an Avox. When they awake from a night in the sewers, white lizard mutts, that Katniss say smell like blood and roses, chase them through the sewers. Messalla is killed by a pod, which melts his skin like candle wax. Jackson and Leeg 1 are killed in the "Meat Grinder", a pod with dangerous, spinning blades, and Finnick, Homes, and Castor are killed by the mutts. After Finnick's death, Katniss says the keywords "Nightlock Nightlock Nightlock" to the Holo, activating the self-destruct mode, before throwing the Holo into the sewers, killing the mutts.

Cressida leads the remaining five members into her old friend, Tigris' house, who owns a fur store. They hide in the basement, and while Pollux and Cressida mourn the crew's death, Gale and Peeta talk about who Katniss will choose, which she hears. They leave, disguised as Capitol citizens, when a rush of Peacekeepers seperate them all, and capture Gale, who asks Katniss to shoot him but Katniss fails to hear the request. The group never reunites, and Pollux and Cressida are later confirmed to have survived the attack on President Snow's mansion.
