Where Is The Content??[]

Semi-first time visitor here. I visited the page and saw it was blank. Knowing the District 12 page could NOT be this small; looking at the history, I saw that a few hours ago, it was more than 6.5kB in size. It's less than 1kB now. I tried to undo this, but I can't due to "conflicting edits"...I don't know what that means. Help!

Can an admin or somebody undo this action, and protect this page from such deletions? Is that possible? It seems to be caused by an edit war of some sort.

Population[]

I have added a line in this article about the population of District 12. (SPOILER ALERT). At the start of Mockingjay, they describe how in the destruction of the district, over 90% of the people are gone. Given that there are a total of 800 survivors, this leaves just under 10,000 people (depending on the exact percentage). TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 02:19, March 30, 2012 (UTC)

not really. the population is about 8,000. about 7,200 of them go down.

Color scheme[]

Hey guys, I noticed something. The coal miners have Black hair (coal is black) and the merchants have blonde hair (blonde can be compared to gold). Some sort of link don't you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.241.16.93 (talkcontribs) 19:35, April 15, 2012

Yeah, dude, I agree

well this is refering to the film

No, she talks about in the books that people of the Seam have dark hair and the merchant class has blonde hair.

Haymitch description[]

"District 12 had not won the Games for many years prior to The Hunger Games, when Haymitch Abernathy, an alcoholic and an embarrassment to the district, won the 50th Annual Games, or the second Quarter Quell."

You make this sound like Haymitch was a drunk and embarassment when he won the games. This is opinion as far as I can tell. In my opinion, he did not become this way until after the games, based on his looks and actions during the 50th Games when Katniss and Peeta watch the tapes

Well... it's just saying that because he was always drunk that he was an embarassment to the district.

I'm a dragon... RAWR! or Anneliese a.k.a. Annie a.k.a. the awesome one a.k.a. the one with the awesome sig a.k.a. her royal highness a.k.a. queen of the universe aka Iluvgale

Perhaps it would best be written like this then:

"District 12 had not won the Games for many years prior to The Hunger Games, when Haymitch Abernathy, won the 50th Annual Games, or the second Quarter Quell, and subsequently became an alcoholic and an embarrassment to the district." Kabalah70 04:03, April 22, 2012 (UTC)

Haymitch is drunk since he just can't handle seeing tributes that he mentors die every single year. Also, seeing his ally get attacked by muttation could have added onto the cause. U get it? :)

Location[]

So, I found Catchinf Fire on the internet and when I watched the scene where Katniss watches the Distrct 8 riots on the computer, I can clearly see District 8, with 12 way to the south of it- around the Carolinas which is possible because the Appalachian Mountains do stretch that far south.

So D12 being closer to 13 is actually false in this case.

It is three

In the film it is recognized that District 12 only has 3 victors. However in the first book it is said that District 12 has 4 victors. In the first chapter of The Hunger Games on page nineteen, Katniss states "Then he reads the list of past District 12 victors. In seventy-four years, we have had exactly two. Only one is still alive." Due to the first victor being dead, and Haymitch having been the only one for many years, it can be assumed that the first District 12 victor won a very early Hunger Games, and was possibly alive to mentor Haymitch.

Peeta and Kat would be joint winners. 'Exactly two' one unamed, haymitch and Peeta&kat = three. As there is not meant to be two surving each hunger games.

The SEAM about color of people[]

The pages says the seam is know for grey eyes and dark hair, where and who said thats what they are know for that? Then the mention of prim and her mother was completely random and prim has brown eyes. There were other blondes like peter

Okay, in the first Hunger Games book, Katniss points out that the Seam was known for having dark hair and grey eyes (i.e. Herself and Gale are perfect examples). She also pointed out that people like her mother, Prim and Peeta (each having blond hair and blue eyes) was not common for the Seam. Also, I'd like to point out that the movie is not 100% what we base the wiki off. The books came first and I'd rather trust what Suzanne Collins put down over that of what movie producers put on film for people to watch. A movie is just a basic interpretation of the book and will not follow all those little details (such as hair and eye color, for example) because it would be pointless. Also, about Prim, her eyes are hazel in the movie because they could not give her color contacts to make them blue. Everyone needs their Rainie <3 01:19, November 25, 2014 (UTC)

The Mining District[]

Since I first read this series more than four years ago, it always brought me a question:

  • Does District 12 mines anything other than coal?
  • At that timeframe, do you think District 12 is totally dependent on District 5, and that coal is already obsolete?
