Tax is the male trainer at the archery station in the Training Center. He makes his only appearance in Catching Fire. When Tax sees that the standing targets are way too easy for Katniss, he throws fake birds into the air which Katniss shoots. Katniss gets very good at hitting the birds, so he decides to throw more birds for more difficulty. When Katniss hits five in one throw, everyone in the Training Center stares at her and it falls silent. Their faces show a mixture of envy, hatred and admiration. It is revealed the even Brutus wanted an alliance with Katniss after he saw her shoot.^[1]
