The citizens of Panem witnessed brutal murders, countless children being claimed as compensation for a Rebellion, on live television in an event known as the Hunger Games. This occurred once a year annually, where one boy and one girl would be chosen to represent their district in a fight to the death in an undisclosed location, the Arena. This happened seventy-five times, for exactly seventy-five years. That's what the Capitol wanted the people to believe. There were actually seventy-seven Games, but the Capitol had made it to where the people thought they had never seen them or that they ever existed. Those two Games, the 34th and 49th, were erased from history, creating empty memories of the Games. People talked of them, but knew no specific details. They didn't know who had taken part in them, who had died and who had survived. The victors had vanished as well, and the people of the districts couldn't remember who they were. So, to stop the confusion, the Capitol created films depicting what had actually happened, with actors portraying the tributes. None of what the districts were shown was real, none of it. It was a scam, but no one knew it. The story about the whereabouts of the victors was that they had been lost in a terrible storm, where a Capitol train derailed, crashed, and they were never seen again. They also said that their bodies were never recovered, leading the people to believe that they had simply vanished into the wilderness. Though the records of the Games were supposedly deleted, a man who claimed to be the son of one of the missing victors came forth from the wilderness of the newly acquired District Fourteen and told the tale to government officials. Now, we are able to tell the story of one of the missing Games, the 49th, the year before the 2nd Quarter Quell, where Haymitch Abernathy had a very surprising victory. This is the story of the Forgotten Games.

The Reapings

District 1

Jasper and Amber are not the ones chosen to participate in the Games. However, they both volunteer. They are known as some of the meanest, most vicious kids in the district, so no one dares volunteer to take their place.

District 2

The reaping here is very confusing. There are multiple volunteers after the first kids are chosen, but in the end, only two hands remain in the air, those belonging to Titan and Valerie.

District 3

The girl is chosen first, and it's Alameda. No one volunteers. Her mother and father can be seen crying. Then, Jonathan is chosen, and there is an eerie silence.

District 4

Trinity is chosen, and then the escort goes over to the bowl containing the boys' names. A boy is chosen, but Trition volunteers, the boy who was chosen was his best friend, and so he takes his place in the Games.

District 5

The escort pulls a name out of the first bowl, and it's Yvonne. The camera shows Yvonne's twin sister, Yvette, ghostly pale and shocked, fainting. Gareth's name is drawn while two Peacekeepers carry Yvonne's sister to a medic.

District 6

The girl is chosen first, as it is in every district, and the name drawn is Rose. After the boy is chosen, Evan volunteers, keeping a promise he and Rose had made several years earlier when they were just twelve.

District 7

A rather simple reaping. Kate is chosen first, and then Dash, and it happens relatively faster than the other districts' reapings.

District 8

This district's reaping is different than the others. The boy tribute is chosen first, rather than the girl. Eren is reaped, and then the escort reaps Dana.

District 9

The reaping from District 9 is very different than previous years'. For the girl, there is one volunteer, a girl named Destiny. Two boys play a quick game of 'rock, paper, scissors' to see who gets to volunteer to take the male position, and Alvin ends up winning.

District 10

Pal is chosen after the girl, who was at first a twelve year-old, but Brenda, who's eighteen, takes her place.

District 11

The reaping begins, and the first name drawn from the bowl is a young girl named Jasmine. The male tribute is chose afterward, and the name drawn is Valiant.

District 12

The final Reaping Ceremony is underway, and the crowd says nothing through the entire event. The escort chooses Sheron to be the female tribute. He walks over to the other bowl and chooses a name, and reveals that Travis has been reaped.

The Games

Bloodbath- Day One

"Tributes! Welcome to the forty-ninth Annual Hunger Games! May the best of you win, and may the odds be ever in your favor!"

The tributes stand in a circle on raised platforms in the middle of a large field. There is a pond to the north, and the Cornucopia, a gleaming gold horn filled with necessities, sits in the middle of the field. Around the south border of the arena is a dense forest, and to the west is a large mountainside. The countdown begins.

"60. 59. 58. 57, 56. 55. 54. 53. 52. 51. 50. 49. 48. 47. 46. 45. 44. 43. 42. 41. 40. 39. 38. 37. 36. 35. 34. 33. 32. 31. 30. 29. 28. 27. 26. 25. 24. 23. 22. 21. 20. 19. 18. 17. 16. 15. 14. 13. 12. 11. 10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 5. 4. 3. 2. 1," the sound of a gong can be heard, and the sound deafens the tributes temporarily. All of the tributes, either by choice or because the gong knocked them off, get off their platforms. It's about a fifty yard distance from the platforms to the Cornucopia, and in the other direction, fifty yards to the forest. Some just run away, not wanting to get involved. But others run into the bloodbath full-on and won't come back out of it.

The scene is very disturbing and quite morbid. The first person to die is the small boy from District 10, who is stabbed with a spear by the girl from 7. Responding to this in anger, the girl from 10 takes the girl's spear and jams it into her back. The boy from 12 has his throat slit by the large boy from 4. Behind him, his ally, the girl from 4, is pierced by the boy from 9's sword. The boy from 4 chases after the boy from 9, but he escapes into the forest. The Careers, specifically the boy from 2, comes up behind the boy from 3 and snaps his neck with his bare hands, quite an example of brutality. The girl from 2 is with her district partner, and catches the boy from District 5 as he runs past them by the arm, and then stabs him in the head, letting his body fall to the ground with the knife still wedged in his skull. Next, the girl from 12 runs up to the girl from 9 and kills her by taking an axe to her neck, partially decapitating her head, blood squirting onto her killer's face. The pair from District 11 has several supplies and are running away when the girl, who is noticeably smaller and weaker than the male, is struck by a knife thrown by the girl from District 1. The boy yells, but no one hears it due to the deafening effect of the gong. In retaliation, and partially out of the fact that he didn't know who had killed his partner, he grabs the girl from District 8 by the waist and slowly beats her to death. After he's done, he runs away. The boy from 11 is the last tribute to leave the scene of the bloodbath alive.

Day One- Night

It's only after the Fallen are shown in the sky that the remaining tributes learn of the fates of the others. There were nine cannons fired after the bloodbath, indicating that nine tributes had died. Later, no one witnessed it, the boy from District One caught the boy from 8 by surprise and slaughtered him using a machete. Another cannon was fired for his death, and then things began to calm down. Alliances stayed together around small fires and watched the Fallen appear in the sky. That indicated the end of the day.
