Tutorial: How To Make A Hunger Games

Hey! So since we have had a new user serge, I thought it would be best to make a tutorial for all the users that are confused about how to make a hunger games!

So, here it goes


Step 1:Edit

Create a blog postEdit

This is the easy part, all you need to do is go onto your user page, then you will see 5 buttons 'Profile', 'Talk Page', 'Blog', 'Contributions' and 'Following'. What you need to do is press the button 'Blog', that will take you to a page where all your blogs will be. Underneath the tab with the 5 buttons, you will see a seperate tab with 1 button which says 'Create blog post', you need to click on that, then you will be taken to a blank blog page, but a pop-up will, well, pop up, asking you what to name the blog, so thats when you call it something like 'My First Hunger Games' or 'The 106th Annual Hunger Games', Anything you want really. When you have chosen a name, press the 'Ok' button and there you have it, a blank blog page waiting for you to edit it


Step 2:Edit

IntroductionEdit

So the introduction is highly understated, most people think that people join games because of the users reputation, but personally, I join them because I like the arena and twists and stuff like this, there doesn't really need to be a screenie for this step, all you need to do is say something like 'Hey I'm Mark, I have decieded to make a hunger games'

RulesEdit

Rules are always important in a hunger games, this is what I normally have for my rules:

  1. No fighting in the comments
  2. Don't PMS about you tributes dying
  3. No tributes from my previous games
  4. All tributes must have a Lunaii
  5. 3 Tributes Each
  6. No Spamming
  7. No plagiarism
  8. No 'Look on my profile'
  9. No perfect tributes
  10. Profiles from the Role Playing Wiki are greatly prefered
  11. No Wikia Contributers (Just gets confusing)
  12. Stay a little active (Just comment 'Go Tributes' or something every virtual day, that will be cool)
  13. If you read this then say 'Swinging naked on a wrecking ball is very unhygienic'
  14. Have fun!


These rules are based around what I find more convineant. So with rule 7, sometimes people ask users to go the their page to collect a tribute, but I find this as a big effort wasting prosses when the tribute maker could just link the tributes section. With Rule 9, most people use www.thehungergamesrp.wikia.com site to make tributes. some rules, like rule 12 are just a bit of fun to get the user more interested :D Also, always remember rule 13: Have Fun! Because thats what a game is really about. Also, always remember rule 5, people need to know how many slots they are allowed.

The ArenaEdit

This bit is self-explanatory, all you need to do is discribe your arena (to an extent if you want to keep bits secret for later XD)

The Tribute ChartEdit

Now, this part I must say, Is very tedious. Firstly, what you need to decide is how many tributes you want, so if you wanted Districts 1 - 12, you would have 24 tributes, plus on one row for the headings (Name, Weapon, User, District) so thats 25 rows, then you need to decide how many collumns. So 1 for the Gender and District, 1 for the name, 1 for the weapon, 1 for the age, 1 for the user and 1 for the token (feel free to add anymore or any less) and that together is 6. 25 rows and 6 collumns. To make the table you press the little table icon on the right side bar under the heading 'Add features and media':

So all you need to do is in the 'rows' section, put 25 (However many tributes you use, always add one for the top bar) and for the 'columns' section put in 6. Then what you need to do is (To make it look more profesional), click on the dropbox which says 'Headers' and click 'Both' Then press ok and you should end up with something like this



Then you do the tedious bit where you go down the table and in the first column you type 'District 1 Male' then female and so on until you reach D12 or something. Thats your table done for the moment! All you need to do now if wait for tributes to come. This is what it should look like when you get all your tributes:

P.S. If you are as lazy as everyone else and don't really care about the DIY section of this tutorial, you can always copy and paste the table, but that kinda defeats the object of the tutorial.

ReapingsEdit

When you get all your tributes you may want to do these. All you do is POV's, you can do overviews, but I find POV's (Point Of Views) easier because you can see everything from the tributes eye. In the tribute it should say what they do in the reaping (Voulenteer, Reaped ect.) this is where your imagination come in! If they have nothing there about the reaping then do what you want!

Tribute Parade (Chariot Rides)Edit

Now, not many people do these but I find them fun! Its basicaly the same thing you done with the tribute chart, just less rows and columns, here is an example one:

Now, these are essentual in Hunger Games, what I normally do Is make a table like with the Chariots and Tribute Chart:

You may be wondering on how to judge the score, but its easy, just scan the tributes details and give them what you seem fit :) (You should know this, but a 0 training score is the worst and 12 is the best)


SponsoringEdit

I do not normally do this, but it is popular amongst most people. What you do is, at the begining of the games tributes are given money, say $200, and though out the games, the more kills a tribute gets, the more it increases. The user that owns the tribute can then buy stuff with the money, like water for example (The prices will be set by you) and then in the games, they get it. Simple :D

Coding

So some of you may want to get your head around some of the wiki coding, so if you would wish for a colord table ect. Here is the coding for a normal tribute chart which has 24 tributes:



It looks pretty complicated, I know, but if you enter this in source mode, then flick back onto Visual, it should look like a normal table like the one I showed you earlier. Now, something that most people want to use in there games to spruse things up; A Color table!
