Victor Village

The Victors' Village is a wealthy neighborhood which is present in every district and is where the past victors of various Hunger Games reside. They contain twelve luxurious houses which are given to the victors as rewards for surviving the Hunger Games. The homes each contain an office, a study, multiple bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a basement. When the victor dies, everyone sharing the house with them must leave and move back to their old house.

District 12

In Catching Fire, Katniss Everdeen states that there are 12 dark and gloomy houses, but the only victors living in District 12's Victors' Village are Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, and Haymitch Abernathy. The Victors' Village is left standing after the bombing of District 12. Katniss believes that it is left either as a warning, a message, or a place for Capitol officials to stay when they visit the district. Within District 12's Victors' Village, the two houses that Peeta and Katniss and her family live in give off a warm glow of life, with smoke coming from the chimneys and light from the windows, while Haymitch's home consists of a gloomy, dark feeling. Katniss also states that the houses are so large that they could fit around 10 buildings the size of her old one with room to spare.

After the war ends, it is revealed that more of District 12's Victors' Village is now occupied by normal people. One new resident is Greasy Sae, who cooks for Katniss.

A victor's house is described as a huge mansion, made of white marble, but the houses in Victors' Villages never looked the same. Katniss' mansion is white and clean where she lives with her family (her mother and Prim). Haymitch Abernathy's mansion has wooden windows, and next to the kitchen is a huge dining table where he usually eats alone, though sometimes Katniss and Peeta come over to eat with him. He keeps his house dark, and his housekeeping is atrocious and his mansion looks more like an abandoned house than a mansion. With all the vomit, alcohol, and trash all over the floor, Katniss could smell the house's terrible stench from far away.
